PSM Driver Training - The Theory Test

The theory test consists of 2 parts, both of which must be passed at the same time.

Multiple-Choice Questions
The section of the test consists of 50 multi-choice questions that are based on the Highway Code and other road safety matters. They are taken from a question bank of over 1200 questions.

Each question will have several answer options appearing on the screen and you have to select the correct answer by touching the screen. Read the question carefully as some questions require more than one answer.

Some questions will be given a case study. The case study will show a scenario that five questions will be based on. The subject of the scenario focuses on real life examples and experiences that drivers could come across when driving.

If you come across a question you are unsure about, don't worry about it, you can 'flag it' and come back to it later in the test. You are allowed 57 minutes to answer 50 questions. Pass Mark 43

The Hazard Perception Test
This consists of 14 video clips which feature every day road scenes. In each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two hazards.

In order to achieve a high score you need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of it's development. The maximum you can score on each hazard is five. Total points available is 75. Pass Mark 44.
